Day 307: "Would I win the Hunger Games?"

Laura and I decided to be Hunger Games characters for Halloween because we're awesome and cultured. I was Effy Trinket and she was Fox Face.
Shirt: Thrifted. I was trying to look shiny and fun and appropriately Capitol.
Skirt/belt: H&M. Because she's business all the time.
Wig: Wal-mart. Because I'm classy.
Tights: American Apparel. The Capitol is supposed to look kooky and unnecessarily individualistic thus my legs share that.
Shoes: Target.
Laura wears whatever she damn well please.

Day 306: He grabbed my ass at the christmas party

In lieu of studying, today I watched Winter Guard videos for hours on end and cried with appropriate amounts of excitement.
Sweater: Delia's. I type that word all too often.
Skirt: Johannah's. That word, however, can never be typed enough.
Leggings: Target. I need more leggings for winter guard. Furthermore I need them in a variety of colors.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Day 305: Just knit your way out of trouble

Just casually chatting on the phone all casual like.
Sweater vest: American Eagle. I actually got this from my brother when he went to college.
Sweater: Target. I have exams next week thus I'm wearing pants. That is how it always goes.
Pants: H&M. Respectable trousers, eh?
Collar: Forever 21.
Shoes: Target.

Day 304: Vincero!

This is the last weekend of Fall Guard (color guard in the fall) so everyone (in the 240 member marching band) has to get dressed up. I'm a tad obsessed with my outfit, perhaps that's vanity in the purest form, I'm not sure. Alls I know is, I'm going to miss fall guard.
Vest thing: Thrifted. The most exciting and itchy and awesome item of clothing I own. I never thought to wear it thus and now I'm alight with the possibilities. I mean, just look at it. I'm so shiny.
Skirt: H&M. I'm glad I finally own a nice skirt noir. Sophistication has found me in the form of pleather.
Tights/shirt/shoes: Target. Simplistic bliss.

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Day 303: Pull and slide

Day one of getting dressed up for a school function! Don't I look dressy? Don't I scream I-Woke-Up-And-Tried-This-Morning? No? Yeah. That's what everyone told me all day. But I tried, I promise!
Dress: Forever 21. Today was tragic. Reason being that my red tights ripped in a very visible and irreparable way.
Sweater vest: Thrifted. I just want to be cute.
Bow: Vintage shop in Northside. The bow was the sign of caring.
Pin: Grandmother's.
Shoes: Old Navy. This is my favorite outfit I've worn in a while.

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Day 302: Black sugar pearls

I just want to charm you all and make you cry with jealousy. Is that so wrong?
Sweater: H&M. I need to go thrifting, that much is clear.
Dress: American Apparel. I think you're the possible brightest star on my plate.
Tights: Nordstrom.
Pin: Voice Teacher's.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Day 301: Do what you want, I won't sing

I was called a "grunge princess".* Dream come true!
Blouse: Thrifted. This blog reminds me so thoroughly of last school year that my heart aches upon seeing it.
Dress: Forever 21. Velvet is the best.
Sweater: Urban Outfitters.
Head band: Scarlett's.
Tights: American Apparel. I need to buy more tights.
Shoes: Dr Martens. Happy happy happy.
*Whether it was a compliment or not remains to be seen.

Monday, October 24, 2011

Day 300: What a thrill times 30

Charmant. I love this outfit because I look ~edgy and ~exciting and y'know, people like those qualities.
Tank Top: Johannah's. This shirt makes my boobs look strange.
Blazer: Thrifted. I have to get dressed up twice this week. I'll let you know when to get excited.
Skirt: H&M.
Tights/thigh highs/pearls: Target.
Shoes: Doc Martens.

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Day 299: Replace your Cs with Xs.

This day is comfortable enough to be a bummin' it day but not ugly enough to truly qualify. My new favorite thing!
Dress/leg warmers/belt: H&M. Oh that's it, H&M is the essence of comfortable but not bumtastic.
Shirt: J.Crew. Stayin' classy.
Sweater: Urban Outfitters.
Tights: Gap. Technically the outlet but you don't need to know that.
Shoes: Old Navy. I've taken to liking to juice.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Day 298: Baby baby come along with me

Long time complete ignoring of blog. I would apologize but I don't feel a need to. For that, I will apologize.
Sweater: Johannah's. The softest sweater ever created.
Skirt: American Apparel. I was greeted by my friend with "Oooh you're trying to look like a school girl!" I don't know how to feel.
Shirt: Forever 21. Just some sunny funny honey covered times.
Socks: Target.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Friday, October 21, 2011

Day 297: I'm touching you even if you're in Vichy.

I'm looking for livre suggestions because I've been exponentially bored since I finished Hunger Games.
Sweater: Urban Outfitters. It's been really nice weather, all in the lower 60s and sunny. But the school has already started heating the building and I found myself sweating in study hall. Unfair.
Shirt: Johannah's. I may start to just say the store names because constantly giving her credit sickens me.
Skirt: Forever 21. When the sweater is pulled down it looks like I'm not wearing pants.
Tights: Nordstrom. Whenever I have my laptop on my legs while wearing these tights for a while, the print imprints on my legs. Useful anecdote.
Pin: Grandmother's.
Shoes: Dr. Martens.

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Day 296: I was just about to pull a couple of your molars.

Everyone in guard was supposed to wear their shirts to school/rehearsal today but alas, only a small few of us were brave enough to face the orange in public.
Shirt: Guard. I love this shirt and its slightly repellent color because I feel as though that's a facet of guard; being beautiful while things are ugly.
Collar/dress: H&M. I'm very motivated by cool prints and soft fabrics.
Sweater/shoes: Old Navy.
Tights: Nordstrom.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Day 295: You’ve got about as much charm as a dead slug

"Caitrin, I love your skirt!" "Aw thanks! It's a nightie!" "What's that?" "Like, lingerie?" "Wait so like a nightgown?" "Um yeah" This was just another sign of how intensely awkward I am.
Sweater/nightie: Johannah's. Two of the greatest items of clothing I've ever been given spontaneously when my sister leaves for another country.
Tights: Betsey Johnson.
Shoes/socks: Target.

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Day 294: You don't forget the face of the person who was your last hope

I think I look like Humpty Dumpty (presumably) looked after he was evicted from his rightful place on the wall. This is an appropriate way for me to look right now, you know why? I finished the Hunger Games. Don't talk to me, anymore. I don't have a soul. Or feelings. Or hope.
Shirt/belt: Thrifted. I don't know what to do with myself anymore.
Button down: Johannah's. Probably the most unattractive item of clothing I own. I may mutilate it for the sake of a collar.
Skirt: Gap. Nothing but respect to Katniss. Well, maybe a little disrespect.
Leggings: Target.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Monday, October 17, 2011

Day 293: Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place where I love you

I'm starting the third Hunger Games book today. I'm nervous to finish it but I refuse to stop reading.
Skirt: Johannah's. I'm just so enamored with this skirt. Every time I wear it I feel like I'm wearing my favorite outfit which is great because I love feeling like a stunna.
Sweater: H&M. Ravishing. I think I prefer this sweater untucked but I'm excited about the chance to experiment.
Blouse/pearls: Thrifted. Impassioned by the color mustard.
Pin: Voice teacher's. Someone please tell me there's an epilogue? PLEASE.
Tights: Nordstrom.
Shoes/socks: Target.

Saturday, October 15, 2011

Day 292: I’m more than just a piece in their Games

An exhausting weekend. Even though I had a competition this weekend and it was highly physically strenuous, I'm speaking more of the emotional upheaval I've felt since I started the Hunger Games.
Sweater/scarf: Johannah's. I started the first book yesterday and finished it today/finished the second book today. I haven't been this wrapped in a book since Harry Potter.
Shirt: Thrifted. Can I just talk about how awesome Finnick is?
Dress: Target.
Tights: Nordstrom. Lovin' it.
Boots: Dr. Martens. What will we do when I'm done? WHAT WILL I DO?

Day 291: The girl on fire.

"The first really fine day of Autumn." Said Caitrin in her J.K. Rowling voice.
Coat/dress/shirt: Johannah's. Thanks, Jo! I'm in love with this coat that I feel almost guilty.
Tights: Betsey Johnson. I've officially started the Hunger Games series and OHMYGOD. Everyone go tell Laura how immaculate it is and also thank you, for telling me to read them numerous times.
Boots: Dr. Martens. I seriously can't stop thinking about what Katniss is gonna do now. I mean, she's the girl on fire. WHAT IF THERE'S WATER.

Friday, October 14, 2011

Day 321: In the window frame

Sour face, sassy case.
Shirt/vest: Thrifted. Charmant.
Skirt: Johannah's.
Tights: Target. I'm sorry I've taken forever to update, friends. I'll do better, promise.
Scarf: Homemade.
Shoes: Dr. Martens.

Day 290: Aren't you relieved I'm alive?

I look persnickety.
Blouse: Thrifted. Maybe I should bathe and wash my clothes? NAY.
Sweater/headband: Johannah's. Reppin' the scarlet.
Skirt: Forever 21. Just so you all know, I would never pledge a frat.
Tights/socks/shoes: Target.

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Day 289: Madison is one of the first

A jollie jeudi.
Sweater: Urban Outfitters. I have the habit of mixing decades, and let me tell you, I'm not proud of it. But I find choosing not to wear my docs to be highly labor intensive so all of my outfits are coming out with a 90s grimace, instead of the delirious 65-75 smile I was going for.
Dress: Forever 21. I'm worried by this piece. I love myself and I hate myself. (Myself being the dress.)
Pin: Grandmother's. This is actually from the 60s. L'histoire on my chest.
Necklace: Scarlett's. Lord knows what history this necklace has.
Tights: Nordstrom.
Boots: Dr. Martens.

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Day 288: Holy ghosts, when do you come out to play?

Drowning your sorrows in a hand-fruit.
Sweater: H&M. I'm aware that this a dull 'fit, I am. I'm just more attached to the bummin' it attributes of Wednesday than I am to the attractive attributes of every other day.
Skirt: Gap. A hallmark of the comfort and ease that I've come to consider home.
Belt: Scarlett's. I originally had a matching red bow on my bedhead but that got lost in the tizzy.
Leggings/shoes: Target. Would it be horrifyingly nasty if I said I hadn't washed these leggings in a week? Yes? Oh, then I'm glad I didn't say that.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Day 287: The Whiskey Rebellion

Awkward poses to help ease you through your tuesday.
Blouse: Thrifted. The first wearing of this school year! Oh I'm overjoyed to have cold weather and uncomfortable shoes that are juuuust cute enough to be worth it.
Sweater: American Apparel. It was Johannah's but it's time she passed the gauntlet. I love the easy prepster quality.
Skirt: Forever 21. Tomorrow I have 2 tests and the PSAT....Yayyyy.
Tights: Nordstrom. I'm sorry that I've taken to ellipses like a moth to a cliche.
Socks: Found in the basement. I'm guessing my grandmother gave them to me when I was 8.
Shoes: Target.

Monday, October 10, 2011

Day 286: They sell more than everybody.

I was recently made aware that my sister's French students may be checking my blog soon. If you're a French student who my sister sent here, salut! If you're not of that party....uh nice to meet you? I guess?
Blazer: Thrifted. I haven't donned this in ages and I'm really excited about my progress--style wise--since that point. I think I've figured a lot out since then and I'm pleased with where this year is taking me.
Dress: H&M. I was once teaching my friend random french words, so I taught her how to say "je suis stupide". But her realizing the meaning through clever use of cognates called my bluff. She then changed her statement to "je suis une pamplemousse!" I think you now understand why I began with the latter statement.
Scarf: American Apparel.
Shoes: Dr. Martens.

Sunday, October 9, 2011

Day 285: He's an excellent receiver.

Guess what musical I'm seeing.
Dress: Gap. My I'm-A-Successful-Business-Woman dress. I like it because one day that will be true of me and I'll be prepared due to my excellent purchase when I was 15.
Sweater: Johannah's. Remember when I said I was gifted a necklace from my voice teacher? Well, I'm wearing it! It's intertwined with my pearls so you may not be able to understand its complexities, but it's really lovely.
Earrings/purse: Thrifted.
Tights: Nordstrom. In my hand I hold a bag that contains a Beauty and the Beast shirt because, as you know, I have an extensive musical theater related shirt stock and I need constant gains to be happy and content.
Shoes: Target. The show was wonderful, btw.

Saturday, October 8, 2011

Day 284: Pick pick pick, talk a lot, pick a little more.

I had a football game last night (which was so much fun! I'm really glad I finally was able to put up a fun photo of guard, instead of all the boring practice outfits. End of digression.) and I have a competition tonight and I'm seeing a musical tomorrow night. Long story short, I'll be wearing more make up this weekend than I've worn my entire life.
Sweater/skirt: Johannah's. J'adore le pull. (Is that French correct? I don't know and am not in the mood to check or make my sister, who has the intelligence of a dolphin, check it.)
Shirt: Harry Potter merch site, I guess.
Shoes: Target. My classiest shoes. I love me some Mary Janes (the shoes, not the smokeable version of hemp.)

Friday, October 7, 2011

Day 283: We're supposed to look like Shakespearian men at a masquerade. Duh.

Guard costume! My face is hidden because, well, it's my face and the show make up is embarrassing.
Costume: It was supposedly designed by a drag queen, which seems pretty evident. I love it, though! It's really tight (obvz) but, somehow, rather flattering. I think it's beautiful and looks really lovely on the entire guard, which is really hard to do. If you've ever been to a marching band competition, you know what I'm talking about.

Thursday, October 6, 2011

Day 282: Tiger Day!

A charming balance of grodiness and elegance.
Sweater/earrings: Thrifted. Myself and my friend Kaitlyn both wore tiger sweater without planning it! We were so excited that (without discussion) we ran at each other and bumped bellies. I don't know if a more glorious action could have been taken.
Dress: Johannah's. Apparently this is shockingly short, I see no fault.
Leggings: Target. Nothing is short when you're wearing leggings...right?
Socks: Urban Outfitters.
Shoes: Dr Martens.

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Day 281: Using grotesquery in a sentence.

I have no homework so I'm updating my blog. As January Jones once told me, "only boring people are bored." Rude but effective.
Blazer: Thrifted. This outfit is tricky to credit appropriately parce-que* it feels like every piece deserves to be number 1. I chose the blazer because it provoked fun conversation.
Christmas sweater: Delia's. This would be more correctly classified as a fair-isle sweater, but I think Christmas is more representative of the outraged reactions I received from my peers.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters.
Shirt under everything: H&M.
Tights: American Apparel. Laborious posting.
Shoes: Dr. Martens.
*My second favorite french word. First favorite: Pamplemousse.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Day 280: Jumping every which way

No, you're not hardcore.
Sweater: Thrifted. I think I look pretty persecuted, which may or may not have been the goal.
Dress: Delia's. Cutie Pie.
Belt: Scarlett's. You inspire me to do crazy things, and I'm thankful for you.
Tights: Nordstrom.
Shoes: Dr. Martens.

Monday, October 3, 2011

Day 279: The color of our planet from far, far away

Today I drank mah pumpkin spice latte on this ledge near the coffee shop that looks out onto an intersection, a farm, and 2 churches. I believe you just read a nutshell of my city.
Sweater: Thrifted. I haven't worn this in over 10 months so this wearing was exceedingly exciting.
Skirt: H&M. Weighty bliss.
Headband: Scarlett's. I love this paring of sweater and band because of the intense nostalgia.
Tights/socks: Target.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Sunday, October 2, 2011

Day 278: I made it! I'm here!

Je suis tres fatigue. I'm not sure if I'm proud of it or infuriated with it. Why not both?
Shirt/sweater: Johannah's. I promise I pay for my clothes sometimes!
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. To keep my tired self on fire.
Shoes: Target.

Saturday, October 1, 2011

Day 277: She was magnificent and I cried

Today, a part of me died. That is evinced with my menacingly bad outfit.
Shirt: American Apparel. I was cold and tired and in more pain than anyone need be today, but I cried tears of success and pride with my guardigans. That's all that matters.
Sweater: Urban Outfitters. This outfit has many of my archetypal stores: Urban, AA, Johannah.
Skirt/scarf: Johannah's.
Leggings/socks/shoes: Target. Ignore this post.
