Day 153: Sexually contracted languages.

I know my socks don't match, but I don't own any ankle socks and thus do not know the origin of this species. I'll call Charles.
Skirt: Gap. I'm in love with every aspect of this child of beauty. I love the Gap, but I honestly don't feel old or classy enough for it. It's a store that forever reminds me of my Aunt and never of myself.
Shirt: Thrifted. This is my favorite shirt for summer. And this is my favorite outfit in a long, long time.
Sweater: Thrifted. This is in reaction to my sense of classlessness.
Belt: Ralph Lauren.
Necklace: New Zealand. There is one Kiwi who has ever checked this blog, so when I look at my stats (which of course *ahem* I never do), he's responsible for all of the New Zealand related numbers.
Shoes: Target.
Also, I recently watched Rocky Horror Picture Show (the film, but I'll be seeing it live soon enough!) and it was a magical experience. Expect Rocky related post titles for the next few weeks.

Monday, May 30, 2011

Day 152: Give yourself over to absolute pleasure.

Feels like summer, looks like carelessness.
Shorts: Justice. These once were pants, now they're the cause of awkward stares. Lots of leg, yes.
Shirt/bag/pearls: Thrifted. Just cause I'm a party and there's no school today.
Sweater: Costco.
Sunglasses: Pacsun. 'cause I'm cool with a capital ballin.
Necklace/shoes: Old Navy. Shit I'm way too cool for this shit.

This is my brother, he wanted to be on the blawg. If money smells bad, then [these] ninjas stinkin'.
EDIT: Liam is mad that his outfit gets no credits. So:
Shirt: Pacsun. Very stylish choice, Liam. He wears vnecks every day without fail.
Shorts: Target. Exceptional.
Socks: Costco.
This has been very special for us all, Liam.

Sunday, May 29, 2011

Day 150: Action is character

I went a wanderin' with a lady. She was my friend. She's stayed my friend.
Sweater vest: Thrifted. I spent the day with a friend and I'll be vague about it.
Shorts: Delia's. Wrinkled.
Scarf: American Eagle. Two days in a row? Oh no, no no no!
Purse: Thrifted.
Sunglasses: Pacsun. I love being a douche. It brightens my day.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Tshirt/sweater/shoes: Old Navy. I'm sorry, too many.

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Dat 151: She can just play cello, and talk in French to...to beatniks.

I'm just too tough for boys and girls.
Blouse: Thrifted. If I wore a cardigan, I could have gone for the school teacher look.
Dress: Thrifted. My normal gal dress for my normal gal days.
Petti-coat (under dress): American Apparel. I feel floaty. I feel free. I feel bothersome to those who are easily bothered.
Belt: Vintage.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Bag/headband: Forever 21. Easy and breezy and problematic.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Friday, May 27, 2011

Day 149: Innocence in a plaid skirt.

Anotha stunna.
Cat vest: Voice teacher. Some may call me crazy cat lady. In fact, today, everyone called me crazy cat lady.
Dress: Delia's. Love me some layers. Even in 90 degree weather.
Shirt: Forever 21. I'm sure this weekend will be long and eventless. But one can forget that when wearing cat related clothes.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Scarf: American Eagle. This is my resident summer belt. I feel no shame and endless game.
Shoes: Old Navy. God save us from these shoes. I'm gonna buy some heels soon so be on the look out. Urban Outfitters, I'm looking at you.

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Day 148: Why would David want to take me shopping?

I look like I ate something particularly sour.
Wrap thing: Thrifted. Whenever I wear this, people try to climb inside. Not that I mind, with an item of this immense size one must always be prepared.
Dress: American Apparel. So awkwardly intimate, especially because I'm so pale.
Scarf: Some store in Paris. That makes me feel pretentious every time.
Purse: Forever 21.
Necklace: New Zealand. I'd like to know you, all the same.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Day 147: A love letter from Oprah.

An old classic. Today was a big day: Math homework, choir concert, Oprah finale.
Shirt: Target. The pin cut a hole in this glorious piece of fabric.
Skirt/sweater/bracelet: H&M. I was a gross sweater fool at the concert because it was 95 degrees on stage.
Pin: Grandmother's. Lovely.
Belt: Thrifted.
Purse: Forever 21. I feel there is nothing worthy of saying.
Necklace: Old Navy. (Of course there is also the NZ necklace)
Shoes: Old Navy.
P.S. Oprah was beautiful and I sobbed. Thank you, Oprah.

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Day 146: Help me! Tell me what to say!

Don't be too excited for choir rehearsal, Caitrin! You also get to be excited for color guard rehearsal!
Sweater: H&M. Perhaps I should change that to 'Half-sweater'.
Skirt: American Eagle. This skirt is awkward, like yesterday.
Shirt: Forever 21. I felt the need to wear this, but I hardly even enjoyed wearing it.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Belt: American Eagle. Actually just a teeny, tiny scarf all wrapped and cheerful.
Shoes: Old Navy. I promise I'll go shoe shopping one day.

Monday, May 23, 2011

Day 145: It's your grandfather's birthday.

I was crescendoing with one hand and de-crescendoing with the other hand. It is not obvious.
Sweater: Thrifted. This feels so goth-jam/back to school-vibes I could barely put it on, but it felt necessary with such a cheery outfit.
Skirt: American Eagle. Probably the most awkward item of clothing I have. But, that's a tough category with a closet like mine.
Shirt: Thrifted. My favorite summer shirt. It makes me feel peaceful.
Sash: American Apparel.
Purse: Forever 21. This is my resident summer bag, so I'll apologize in advance for its over-wear.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Day 144: Shut your mouth, oh youngest person of our clan.

This is what happens when I spend multiple hours watching Daria while wearing "I'm-too-cool-for-everyone" sunglasses.
Shirt: Thifted. I wore this slightly unbuttoned, but it became a hassle when trying to eat my vegan taco.*
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. I originally wore this skirt yesterday, but then I saw the dress and had to put this little love off a day. We all thought it'd be best for the community.
Purse: Forever 21.
Necklace(I know it's invisible, but I promise it's there):New Zealand.
Sunglasses: Pacsun. I'm wearing them as I type...inside...when it's overcast and raining outside...
Shoes: Old Navy.

Saturday, May 21, 2011

Day 143: "Winner?" "You know, it's another word for loser"

I wanted this lipstick to look dark and show off my despondent mood, but it couldn't quite get there. Today was a mess. This dress is my love letter to my future self.
Dress: Delia's. One of the most worthy purchases I've ever made, and I haven't worn this in over a year. I don't know what I'm so afraid of when it comes to maxi-dresses. Probably the prefix 'maxi-'.
Shirt: Warner Brother's merch site. I was in an apathetic place all day, though it was briefly cured in between the reading of cunt by Inga Muscio and Erotic Poetry by E.E. Cummings. But that faded along with my caffeine buzz.
Sweater: Costco. I'm glad I'm showing my self-indulgent side tonight.
Glasses: Pacsun. I'm so in love with these glasses it hurts a little. I know longer look furious due to hardcore squinting, now I only look furiously bored and douchey.
Hair tie: A craft store originally, more recently, my sister's floor.
Purse: Forever 21. Maybe one day I'll use a legit handbag instead of messenger/clutches.
Bracelet: H&M.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy. The reason I'm so loser ish today is because I spent 3 hours sitting alone in a Barnes & Noble waiting for something interesting to happen to someone within my view--preferably me. No such event occurred.

Friday, May 20, 2011

Day 142: But dammit you're so young

I gave a 20 minute presentation about the Irish/Northern Irish conflict today. I give myself permission to look dejected.
Blazer: Delia's. I was told to dress for success.
Necklace: New Zealand. (Good luck, Kiwi)
Bracelets: H&M, Target. Someone said I match perfectly excluding the green bracelet, um, what?
Dress: Forever 21.
Pin: Voice Teacher is a giver.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Day 141: Slightly bored and severely confused

I would just like to say, before you learn what my shirt says, that I am not a nerd who gets pushed (as was stated by a coed in my school). The (best) shirt (ever) reads: "[Ornithology]" then shows two finches that vary slightly, then says, "Charles Darwin Research Station". See, not nerdy in the least. Consider yourself lawyer'd, peer in school.
Shirt: Liam's (Liam is my brother) friend gave him this shirt and he is letting me borrow it. I'm in love with it. For obvious reasons.
Dress: H&M. This amount of yellow really shows off how white I am. Which is a good thing, because I'd rather be a pale monster than a yellow/orange demon.
Belt: Thrifted.
Bracelets: H&M, homemade, gifted.
Necklace: New Zealand. This just matches so gloriously, both in theme (birds) and color.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Day 140: But we don't know the neighbors.

If you look at my expression you will see my constant state of being. At least for today.
Shirt under dress: Forever 21. I'm sorry that you can barely see it, I barely know why I'm wearing it. Mostly because Ohio has become freezing again. Dear Midwest, you have exhausted my spirit.
Dress: H&M. Everyone loved my dress, calling me normal and cute and every kind of name with a positive connotation that conveys average-ness you can think of (in english).
Sweater: Costco. Love it.
Bracelet/necklace: H&M/New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Day 139: Come on, I think the list is here forever.

Color guard today and these leggings have proved what I always assumed to be true but was too afraid to test: wearing leggings while dancing makes one feel invincible. I feel awesome.
Leggings: Target. I was prancing like no other...well, actually, I was prancing just like (hopefully) the others.
Dress: American Apparel. Feels lovely to wear this old gal, again. For guard I switched to shorts and tshirts, but this made for really fast, in public changing.
Sweater: H&M. The men's section has moved me. I really want some men's blue chinos from H&M.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Target. Parallel first.

Monday, May 16, 2011

Day 138: And a red-haired guy who does not like to be called Rusty.

I wore socks all day, I promise. I took off my shoes when I got home, then remembered this here blawg.
Belt: Thrifted. This belt is glorious and deserves praise. Which it received. It also caused several people to call me Ghetto. I'm more used to granny-lesbian-old-man.
Dress: Delia's: I finally washed my clothing, which means some good old pieces will be getting worn.
Shirt: Thrifted. Sparkle shine.
Sweater: H&M.
Necklace: New Zealand. This is going to be a long week, I can tell. Even though this was a short Monday.
Bracelets: H&M, Homemade, gifted. I'm loving this melange.
Shoes: Target.

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Day 137: I know I'll come back.

I think this outfit would have been much better with Dr. Martins. I really need to make that purchase.
Skirt: American Eagle. I never wear this high waisted, but I can't cover my knees anymore.
Lace blouse: Forever 21. This is clearly my Sunday Best.
Black shirt: Target. Normally this only comes out for choir concerts.
Belt: Thrifted. So that I could have a waist.
Scarf: Vintage. This smells delicious. Delicious in how oldish it is.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy. My posts have been lacking luster lately, sorry. I've lost my energy just as Ohio has lost the sun.

Saturday, May 14, 2011

136: That's okay for some people.

Today my dear Sally came over and helped perfect my Peggy spins. Colorguard will be conquered.
Jacket: Thrifted. When spinning a flag, one should always look like a flag...right?
Skirt: Forever 21. Sick of this old mess. I need to go skirt shopping. Too bad all of my money is being devoted to Guard. Loser is losing.
Shirt: Thrifted. I am so tired, and my shirt shows happy sleepers.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Friday, May 13, 2011

Day 134: Ah, we warned you.

So you know how my voice teacher is the best person ever and has given me a sweater and a cat pin?
This vest is the newest addition.
Vest: Voice teacher. This is the holy grail of incredible vests and incredible cat things.
Skirt: American Eagle. I was visiting my siblings in Columbus, so of course I had to wear one of my sister's old skirts. (Hi Johannah.)
Sweater: H&M. Without the vest, this outfit was very average me. But with it, oh the life it is now leading.
Belt: Homemade. Due to a series of tragic typos, I have now discovered that you can't capitalize colons. I'm severely disappointed.
Necklaces: New Zealand/My Grandmother's.
Bag: Forever 21.
Tshirt/shoes: Target.

Seriously, look at this vest. This is definitely in my top five my cherished items now. Along with Anthony Rapp's autograph and my various musical tickets. Oh, and these are the backs of my legs.

Thursday, May 12, 2011

Day 133: Down, up, and up, angle.

As you will notice, the shorts are not fingertip length. This means that I broke dress-code. I'm basically one giant scandal. I had colorguard today, it is fecking awesome.
Shorts: J. Crew. Love everything about these shorts. They make my legs look scary in length due to how scary in length the shorts are.
Blouse: Thrifted. I'm still classic, granny Caitrin. I would never look like a normal, attractive person and wear shorts with something crazy like a tshirt.
Sweater: Delia's. This was falling off all day and because it's in the long department, it probably made the shorts look shorter.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Socks: Target.
Shoes: Converse. The only tennis-shoe type things I own. Mine might be too old. but are Converse supposed to feel like they're on fire if you stand on hot concrete?

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Day 132: Are you seriously pulling the American card? It's so early.

Barefoot, I know. But I was wearing flippy floppys so does it honestly matter? I think not.
Dress: Target. What a boring beginning to the day.
Button down: Thrifted.
Tshirt under lace shirt/lace shirt: Forever 21. I'm being efficient today, go me!
Belt: Ralph Lauren.
Necklace: New Zealand.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Day 131: Some kind of progress had been made.

Just so easy, y'know? I use that word a lot in reference to myself, but I think the evidence is palpable.
Sweater: Costco. No one believes me when I tell them that, but it's just how it goes.
Shirt: American Apparel. I love love love this dress. I wear it as a shirt because it's a tad short on me, but I love it with black leggings. Which I now own. Yay color guard shopping!
Skirt/bracelets: H&M. I need new stores.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Monday, May 9, 2011

Day 130: One complete sentence is all it takes.

I think this expression clearly states "Well, fuck it!" Is that inappropriate?
Jacket thing: Forever 21. I feel like such a 1960's flight attendant, I love it.
Dress: Forever 21. It seems like an item of this poor quality should be falling apart, but it's in lovely condition. I'm surprised and proud of Forever 21.
Hair thing: My sister's floor. That is a magical place.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Pin: My voice teacher. Another magical place.
Socks/shoes: Target.

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Day 129: No burning mannequins.

I feel ridiculous, I look ridiculous, I am ridiculous.
Dress: H&M. This is the quintessential summer dress, to me. It's weightless and loose and floral and easy and looks perfect with all of my cardigans (I wear sweaters in the summer, too!)
Sweater: Old Navy. This sweater/dress combination makes me feel like Rachel from Glee.
Purse: Forever 21. That purse holds a check for 40 $. That money is going towards....Color guard.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Also, I'm clearly singing Tearing Up My Heart by N*Sync...And miming the words.

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Day 128: Little bit of love.

Today was a really good day. But This is gonna be a long post so this part of it shall be short.
Sweater: Target.
Blouse: Thrifted.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Purse: Forever 21.
Belt: H&M.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters.
Shoes: Old Navy
I know my face is horrendous. But this is Spring Formal. I can't look like a normal human being who is having fun and enjoying the company of others.
Dress: H&M. I feel like a tangerine in this dress. Or a mellon. A bit more like a mellon, the more I think about it. The dance was really fun and this dress worked really well for my *ahem* dancing. If you can call it that. One thing dances always remind me of is my homeschool roots.
Sweater/bracelets: H&M. Can you tell where I went to make this outfit yet? It looks so matchy matchy it hurts, but I liked it. Sally (the gal pictured above) did my hair. Never again. It took 2 hours. Though it was a lovely process.
Purse: Thrifted. I'm really bummed that I forgot to bring my Kiwi necklace to Sally's. I really wanted to wear it (I always do).
Shoes: Old Navy.

Friday, May 6, 2011

Day 127: Color, Classic, Coordinated.

God, look at those clavicles! When I'm not groping my Kiwi necklace, I'm caressing my clavicles.
Tank top: J. Crew. Blehblehlehbleh.
Sweater: H&M. I have nothing to say about this outfit. It feels so painfully unremarkable. I really like it, though.
Dress: Thrifted. I love this, its just so unflattering.
Tshirt: Old Navy.
Head scarf: My basement. When I was little we had a dress up barrel, I saved this one.
Belt: Ralph Lauren.
Necklace: New Zealand. This really looks good with this outfit. I love it with clavicle.
Purse: Forever 21. Love it or leave it, you better gain weight.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Day 126: Get along home

Caitrin is wearing pants. Caitrin is wearing spandex. Caitrin is the happiest gal in town.
Pants: American Apparel. I believe everyone should own an item of clothing that makes you feel as good as these pants make me feel. Honestly, invincible in these pantalons. And everyone was shocked by them, which I haven't gotten in a while.
Sweater: Urban Outfitters. This feels really good. Also, I had color guard practice right after school, so I looked really silly wearing spandex right before I changed. Peggy spins are already difficult, thinking about how awesome you are doesn't help that process.
Pearls: Target. They match my pants!
Necklace: New Zealand. Keepin' it real.
Socks: Target.
Shoes: Old Navy. The black flats would have worked better but they are incapacitated at the mo'.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Day 125: Because she's a stupid jerk.

Springalingding.
Dress (under blouses): Thrifted. This dress is so boring and normal but the skirt part is fun and it was cheap and will work for summer. The overall outfit isn't incredibly dull.
Blouse: Thrifted. My peers were scared of my sleeves. But honestly, go big or go small.
Lace shirt: Forever 21.
Scarf belt thing: Homemade. I made this when I was 7, obviously I was crazy talented.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Day 124: If you hear my name, you may or may not find a joke.

My art teacher was horrified at my skirt length, but I passed the finger length test so she couldn't give me a detention. Upon seeing me she yelled "Caitrin! I expect better from YOU!" Apparently above the knee means I'm a disappointment.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. The skirt that is singlehandedly sending me to hell.
Blouse (under sweater): Thrifted. I love that she completely ignored my granny sweater and blouse.
Sweater: Urban Outfitters. It's been a little while since this sweater got any wear. I miss it.
Pin: Grandmother's. I'm doing colorguard this fall, so practices have started. I had to rush home and eat a peanut butter and jam sandwich while changing into workout clothes. All to the delightful tones of Lily Allen.
Necklace: New Zealand.
Socks: Target. I haven't worn my normal socks in forever. This outfit is just memory lane.
Single strand: Grandmother's.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Monday, May 2, 2011

Day 123: It's easy as...

I was going for School Girl Charm.
Skirt: American Apparel. The obvious piece; it has a 60's feel which makes it easier to feel comfortable in. It's also fun to play piano in because it feels like you're wearing a blanket. This is the innocent part of the outfit. This is supposed to be the school girl before she's being bad and hanging out with the 1960's version of Rayanne Graff.
Tshirt: The girls inner wild self: Reading Harry Potter. Loving Malfoy. Feeling like a Slytherin. Empathizing with Snape because certain females don't notice you because you've been friend zoned.
Blazer: Delia's. This is the school girl meeting her wild mentor who will take her down a path she's not comfortable with but will grow to find herself in.
Headband: Delia's. Even though the girl is growing and rebelling, she refuses to lose every aspect of her former self. Mostly because she doesn't want her teachers to make her sit down after class and discuss her "new path".
Necklace: New Zealand. Her friend is introducing her to all kinds of new things; countries she's never heard of, stores she was too intimidated to go into before, smoking, parties. She's getting an education.
Gold Chain: Grandmother's. Her conceding to her parent's pleas that she stay the same girl they've known.
Scarf: From her childhood. Her new friend(s) mock her for this. She can't let go...of some things.
Socks/shoes: Target. The socks are herself. The shoes are how she feels.

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Day 122: I'd say no toes!

This is the cheeriest I've looked all weekend. Being sick sucks. My mother ran a marathon today! She's a mega baller and has officially made me look a fool.
Lack button down: H&M. I'm excited that this is so easy to carry over to spring/summer. I'm considering seeing if H&M still has this in white, because I think that would really improve my closet.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. This is being "modeled" really poorly, sorry. It looks horribly shapeless and uninteresting. It's cuter than it looks, I promise!
Tshirt: Forever 21. The only reason I still own this (I've had it for a while, it's not truly my style anymore), is because it was one of the first things I bought when I realized that I want to be like Mimi and my sister and dress like I care/have self esteem. This shirt was a (admittedly sad) attempt.
Necklace: New Zealand. I've mastered sleeping in the car in while wearing a skirt with no blanket. I've also mastered sleeping in the car in a necklace and not dying. Ten points to Hufflepuff!
Shoes: Old Navy. Old News.
