Chill-axin'. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new life: Pre-camp! Pre-camp is the conditioning for band camp which is supposed to make you want to die. I'm. So. EXCITED.
Shorts AND tank: J. Crew. Laura texted me one day in a tizzy about the new J. Crew catalogue so when I put on this J. Crew extravaganza I texted her, also in a tizzy, and it turns out she was also wearing J. Crew shorts and tank top. We have a bond. (Also, how many times can I say J. Crew in one post?)
Sweater: H&M. I went sports bra shopping today and even though I find intimate attire shopping to be one of the most unpleasant endeavors possible, I loved getting tie dye bras. And I'm not ashamed.
Purse: Forever 21.
Shoes: Target.

Day 213: Somebody best cool her down
Dress: Target. I'm pretty satisfied with this outfit because it makes me feel put together. Which is a really nice sensation after feeling so completely grody.
Sweater: H&M. People have been known to be surprised by my love of the summer-sweater. But it is unflinchingly rigid.
Necklace: Scarlett gifted. My new favorite necklace.
Shirt: American Apparel.
Shoes/purse: Target. Keepin' it classy.

Day 212: You like pineapple with that
(Post delay is due to pre-camp, which started on Sunday and has royally screwed my life.) I'm extremely bored. I can't wait for pre-camp to start up. But this outfit is fun to wear so there's a silver lining somewhere.
Shirt/belt/purse: Thrifted. I find solace in this shirt. I feel like it *gets* me
Dress: American Apparel. Delightful. I saw this on my floor and thought, "Why the hell not?"

Day 211: Did you notice that we all wear uniforms?
Bad hair day.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. It's been a while, for this old dear. I was excited to pull this back out again, I've missed feeling like I worked in the Mad Men office with Joan and Peggy.
Shirt: Liam's.
Purse: Thrifted. I've taken a break from American Colonies by Alan Taylor aka summer work for AP us history to watch RTW FW 2011 shows and I have realized I desperately miss fall and winter clothes and weather. Summer is lame. Wear are my tights? Blouses? Sweaters (don't look at this picture, that's not a sweater, that's a LIE)? Boots? Socks? Unsuncreened skin? I miss it all. Also, I refuse to acknowledge that I'm completely romanticizing the cold months in Ohio. When I'm cold I'm happy, amirite ladies?
Sweater/shoes: Target. Concise and silly.

Day 210:she strove to be the perfect wife. Life certainly isn't perfect at the moment.
I think this is my favorite time of day, it's the perfect time to practice color guard and the perfect time to take semi blurry pictures. Also, I overuse the word perfect.
Jacket: Forever 21. Today is my brother's 17th birthday! My main man is all grown up!
Dress: H&M. You know what's awkward about Glee? Other than the random sexism and charming gender stereotyping. That none of them seem to be able to play piano but they sporadically sit at the piano and hit random keys.
Shoes: Target.

Day 209: Our oldest tradition for our newest child
Spring formal dress in different use! Oh how versatile my closet is!
Shoes: Target. Shoes are the first credit? WHAT IS THIS!? But I need to give reasoning to my ridiculous shoes two days in a row. These are the only shoes I brought to my dad's and I decided to enjoy being forced to wear my most uncomfortable lovelies.
Dress: H&M. Charming.
Shirt: Thrifted. Caitrin's Technicolor Dreamshirt.
Belt: Ralph Lauren.
Purse: Thrifted.

Day 208: Judges receive letters from disgruntled members of the public
Don't ask me why my shins are so shiny. Maybe because that's some ballin' alliteration? I don't know, I don't really care. My shins are now a main character in this photo.
Leotard: American Apparel. I've missed this ol' item of genderless clothing. I've found that leotards are incredibly awkward to bowl in but are perfect for not giving a damn while bowling.
Skirt: Gap. My love for this skirt is legendary.
Sweater: Delia's.
Belt/purse/earrings/pearls: Thrifted. The invisible earrings are PERFECT. You would love them, anonymous reader. They look like lions with circular rings in their mouths and they're gold and I had to sanitize them and I'm flailing now but I just love them.

Day 207: There was some major side boob
I look both short and pregnant. Two things I've never been and hopefully never will be! (No offense to the pregnant or the short.)
Apron: Thrifted. I'm extremely excited about this apron. You know my affection for aprons, right? This is my other one and my mother has decided it's a "smock" which makes me feel like a Home Depot employee, maybe one day I will be.
Skirt: Thrifted. I've never worn this on here before because I was afraid of the effect that has appeared before you today: becoming ultra short. I made my peace because it has the best pockets ever.
Sweater: Costco.
Shoes: Target. I trolled my way through target today. Felt great.

Day 204: Have you ever eaten a cherry? I have eaten your weight in cherries
I've found that summer days are more stressful than fall days because I'm constantly feeling as though I'm not doing enough, during fall I feel like I'm doing plenty.
Sweater: Thrifted. This sweater doesn't get worn a lot, but I've discovered recently that it feels a whole lot like home. There's a line from an Atmosphere song that I think should be cited, "Smells like candy, felt like family."
Skirt: H&M. I fear this skirt is too short for school. I mean, I've never, ever, broken dress-code.
Shirt: Liam's. I was in an argument with my husband today and this shirt helped me prove my point.
Necklace: Scarlett's gift to me. I'm watching Benjamin Button while I type this. Watching tv makes me feel unproductive.

Day 203: Her shoulders are full glowing flowers
Summertime is ridiculous in Ohio. We're currently in a heat-dome. Which just means that life is hard now and it's over 95 degrees all the time.
Dress: H&M. I've realize that I always credit dress first, no matter what role they play in the outfit. I don't do this on purpose, just habit. It's a bitter cycle.
Shirt: Old Navy. I hung out with Laura today and it was great. We both suggest you read the book The Picture of Dorian Gray (seriously) then watch the movie Dorian Gray (not seriously) and enjoy your life.
Shoes: Target. I finally caught up with my blog! I'm sorry it took forever, life is just more inconvenient and less stylish in the summer.

Day 202: Every girl and boy need a little joy
Readjusting to home life is a long process. I woke up and still did the morning cardio routine from FJM. But I did like sleeping for 11 hours and showering for 36 minutes as well as wearing real shoes and clothes that make me feel like a human being.
Dress: Delia's. I've been listening to Andrea Bocelli all day. Have I mentioned that I met him in Italy in an airport on our way to Pisa when I was 8? No? Well I did, and it was AWESOME.
Necklace: Scarlett's gift. Miss her.
Sweater/shoes: Target. Nice and concise.

Day 201: Thank you, Fred.
The last day of FJM. It was a horrible morning and I was dehydrated and hungry all day. But the performance was the best I've ever done the routine. This week made me love color guard. I used to just enjoy it or see it as something nice to do that involves sequins. But now it's something I really love. I want to do it all through highschool, and do Winter Guard. I'm really excited to (one day) be good at spinning flag, and next year, rifle and sabre.
Shirt: Lakota West. Yay spirit wear that has nothing to do with my school colors.
Shorts/socks: Target. I'm sort of tan now, right?
Shoes: Cheerleader company.
Flag note: This is my practice 7 foot. It's only top-weighted, which means it's rather heavy but easier to toss. The colors (sort of?) match the shirt. I loved the colors because I think they're fun and summery, but everyone else hated them so I'm hoping it'll be a little bit more crowd pleasing for the show. This has been, a useless bit of knowledge about this flag.

Day 201: TWIN DAY!
Day 3 of FJM! Today is TWIN DAY! My whole family (family just means small group of Guard members) went as the Lakota West Justice League (hence the shirts). I was Aqua Man. Hell. Yeah.
Shirt: Homemade. Loved it. Also the Leadership team gave awards to every member of the Guard. I got: Coolest Hair!
Shorts: Target. Tomorrow is the last day with a big final performance for our parents. I'm nervous because it's the same routine as Monday, which as previously mentioned, was horrid.
Shoes: Kohls. A break from those horrible, horrible cheerleading shoes.
Flag note: This now smells like sweat and sunscreen.

Hair Extensions: The Dollar Store is where they purchased all of our awards.
Cape: My big sister made them for us! I love it. Today was just a really fun day, we learned another routine, this one was to 'We R Who We R'.Shorts: Target. Day 200: If I'm not tie dyin', I'm lyin'
Day 2 of FJM! Today was extremely hot. It reached over 100 degrees during the afternoon. Which was unpleasant to say the least. We learned a routine in several hours and then had to perform it. That went terribly and the whole Guard was in quite a mood when we got back to the dorms at 10.
Tie dye shirt: Homemade! Every year we have a Tie Dye Party and then wear the shirts at FJM. Mine looks a mess but it was my first attempt so I've made my peace.
Shorts: I have no idea because I did not order them, the Guard director did.
Shoes: Cheerleading company. These are the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn.
Flag note: I didn't actually use this flag while at FJM, but it's my other practice flag and I felt like showing it off. I learned drop spins on this flag. Memory lane.

Day 199: 6 foot, 7 foot,
I haven't updated in 5 or so days because I was at Fred J. Miller which is a Color Guard camp in Ohio. The camp was three days and I'll warn you now: The outfits were not of my choosing. I had to wear what everyone else in my Guard wore, so the clothes themselves aren't mine, or really anyone's style. So the next three posts will be the sort of posts you skip and that's just fine with me. I didn't take any pictures on location, so had to wait till Thursday.
Shirt: Color Guard shirt. I go to Lakota West Highschool, that is why the shirt says Lakota West on it. I'm pretty sure you could piece that together but we I don't have THAT much faith in you.
Shorts: Gap. Pretty fecking unattractive. But this is what I bought the shorts are for.
Socks: Target.
Shoes: Some really crappy cheerleading company.
Flag note: I don't know what I'm doing in this. Pop toss prep? Maybe. About to start doing cones? I doubt it. Standing with my flag because I don't know what else to do? Most likely.

Day 198: It is for you, do not frighten them
I'm home again and I feel great. I felt like doing some fall vibes in July.
Dress: Forever 21. This outfit is really simple but the two textures make it feel interesting. The main downside was that it's July and this outfit was a tad...heavy.
Skirt: American Apparel. I love this skirt. It's always staring at me from my skirt drawer, begging me to wear it!
Necklace: Grandmother's.
Shoes: Target.

Day 197: Here we find the world
Home again. Now that I've finished the marathon of delayed posting, I'll make a comment on the delay. I don't normally like to say sorry for not posting, because I find it presumptuous to think you care that much. But this week so much happened and so much has to go unsaid and so much is exciting to me and most definitely uninteresting to you. So I'm sorry, because the last week of posts and the delay in their posting is damn near unacceptable. Also, I leave tomorrow for Fred J. Miller, Colorguard camp. Which means my outfits will suck and posting will, again, be delayed. Sorry in advance.
Dress: Thrifted. Don't be excited, it's Johannah's and I'll never wear it again. But it's lovely all the same.
Bag: Delia's. This was my carry on. It contains: Bitch Magazine, Vogue Magazine, W Magazine, American Colonies, and sand from Catalina.
Sweater: Costco.
Shoes: Target.

Day 196: All was well
Just me and Emma, hanging out.
Shirt: Warner Bros. Hell yeah! I have nothing to say. It was INCREDIBLE. I won't ruin anything for anyone but shit. I enjoyed myself. Seeing this in Hollywood was just great.
Skirt: Forever 21.
Belt: Ralph Lauren. I went to Rodeo Drive today. It was great.
Sweater: Costco. Oh my, oh lie.
Purse: Thrifted.

Day 195: What if they have to pay off a gunman?
Summer reading is just great. As is wearing tights in summer.
Tights/purse: Forever 21. Nothing makes me feel so free.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. I got to spend time with my Great Aunt and Uncle. My uncle is 85 and was in a gang when he was in his teens. He also hates the Yankees and grew up in New York.
Sweater: H&M.

Day 194: No dish is really intrinsically better than any other dish
Today was strange. Does that explain my outfit?
Blouse: Thrifted. I went back to wear I was born today; in an apartment in California. Charming, I know.
Jacket thing/skirt: Forever 21. Uninteresting but it's okay because you recognize that I'm running out of clothes in the suitcase, right?
Necklaces: White one: Scarlett's gift. Other: New Zealand. NZ only leaves my body when I sleep. I can't sleep in necklaces because my mother told me I would die if I did when I was 5. ~The More You Know~

Day 193: Let the memories begin
Disneyland! I went there when I was a babe but can't remember it. Going now was surreal. It felt like everything should be bigger than it was. But I know that I should just really have been smaller.
Mickey Ears: The Mad Hatter shop in Disneyland. I don't think I'll ever wear these again, but I feel good about the purchase.
Tank top and Lace shirt: Forever 21. I was one of those people who was wondering around Disneyland looking at everything as though it was groundbreaking-ly new and exciting. My favorite ride was Dumbo or Storybook Land. Probably the latter.
Shorts: Justice.
Purse: Thrifted. I told you I packed more purses! I didn't lie!
Shoes: Old Navy. I'm sorry. That's all I have to say.

Day 192: I'm not going to pretend that it's easy, it isn't easy. It's incredibly painful.
Why do I look sad and distant? Because today was my last day in Catalina. And saying goodbye, possibly for another five years, was terribly disheartening.
Shirt: Thrifted. Simplistic dressing because I am running out of clothes.
Dress: Delia's. Easy breezy.
Belt: Ralph Lauren. I'm going to Rodeo Drive soon! I'm gonna get to touch Miu Miu clothing. Holy shitake.
Purse: Thrifted. I know I wear this too much, but I did wear other purses during the day. Just not in the pictures.

Day 191: You have to count all the whiskey and tartan.
This picture was taken in a hotel that has nothing to do with Catalina, I was unable to take it while in Catalina so it was taken several days later.
Earrings/necklace: Scarlett's gift. Today was the best day of Catalina, for sure. I am unable to explain why through written words, but it was magnificent all the same. All I can say is that I'd like to come back to Catalina next year.
Shirt: American Apparel. AA has served me well. It always does.
Skirt: Gap.
Sweater: H&M. I am always mocked for wearing more layers of sunscreen than I wear clothes in the winter. But, when all of my cousins and siblings and aunts and uncles, etc get sunburned, I will be smiling in sunshine, unafraid.
Belt: My sister's floor, though now I think a more fair credit would be 'my basket of scarves'.
Shoes: Target.

Day 190: He made a wonderful prediction when he saw it.
It's creepy when I look you in the eye, right? When this photo was being taken, I was watching a group of my relatives play Ninja. I beat my Grandfather, just saying.
Dress: H&M. I have been saving this dress for Catalina, well worth the wait. I went tubing today, I may or may not have lost the use of my neck.
Sweater: Costco. I'm just gonna tell you now, this sweater will be over-worn.
Scarf: American Apparel. My head is heavy.
Purse: Thrifted.
Shoes: Target. Again. Expect a lot of wear.

Day 189: Now remember, this guy ruined your dreams.
First day of vacation! I am currently in Catalina, California with my extended family. I spent around 7 hours traveling today and still had time to go to the BEACH. For the first time in...3 years!
Polo: Thrifted. Trying to be comfortable and attractive while on a plane isn't easy or fun or enjoyable. But I don't mind it because I'm in California with my cousins who I haven't seen in 5 years!
Sweater: H&M.
Headband: Scarlett's gift. I think I looked like a 9 year old when I got off the boat, which is a good thing, right?
Shoes: Target.

Day 188: If fortune is a consolation, I ought to be consoled: I'm rich
I leave tomorrow for California so I spent today packing and trying to figure out how many earrings to bring. I decided since I only have 2 ears, I'll bring 2 pairs. That's the sort of logic that I went to public school to achieve.
Dress/Lace button up: H&M. I've spent the summer trying to keep life interesting without my lovely layers. But I realize now that that whole mindset is off and I shouldn't be afraid to layer in the heat. That thought is what caused me to wear this slightly forgotten button up. I couldn't scorn it anymore for being dark. That's not my place.
Bracelets/earrings: Scarlett's gift to me. I spent all of last night (after her departure) untangling necklaces and sorting various items into piles. I now find myself with more jewelry than I've ever owned or known what to do with. And I love it.
Scarf: Homemade. I said I had to finish Count of Monte Cristo before Thursday this time last week. That has not happened. I have 100 pages left and one hour till Thursday. Though, I still have 5 hours till I "wake up" and go to the airport. I have faith in me!
Purse: Thrifted.

Day 187: Proud to know you.
My friend of the past 6 years, Scarlett, who takes me thrifting, gives me advice on surviving highschool, gives me fantastic music, and has the best style of anyone I know, is moving to San Francisco. Obvz I'm extremely excited for her and the beginning of her new and hopefully better life, but Ohio and myself as well as all of her friends will miss her dearly.
Blouse: Thrifted. I had to wear this for Scarlett because it was with her encouragement that I bought it. Of course I'm very thankful.
Skirt: Gap. Scarlett also gave me loads of new music and jewelry due to her cleaning from moving. There's always a silver lining. The other silver lining: I now have a (nother) reason to go to San Fran.
Belt: Thrifted.
Necklaces: Target and thrifted. I'll let you figure it out.
Shoes: Target.
I don't know what Scarlett is wearing, but she looks fantastic per youzhe. I love you, Scarlett. Thank you for everything! Onto bigger and better things!
Blouse: Thrifted. I had to wear this for Scarlett because it was with her encouragement that I bought it. Of course I'm very thankful.

Day 186: Reject all American
This post is reminiscent of everyday in school when we would do the pledge of allegiance and everyday I would refuse to partake by: covering my heart with my left hand, not saying the words, and putting quotation marks around "liberty and justice for all". I know, I'm too crazy for the public school system. My mini rebellions often caused my friends of second period to yell the pledge at me. Good times.
Skirt: Delia's. This is scandal-causingly short. Luckily I spent my 4th in a bathing suit on the beach of a lake in Indiana. This experience both increased my love of Indiana and my bond with Lesley Knope.
Shirt: American Apparel. Proper patriotism is shown with the store title instead of the item itself. I don't really own any red.
Sweater: H&M. You make think 87 degrees with humidity is too hot for a sweater, but nay! It's never too hot for a sweater. Though I did take this off when I was in the lake. I don't own any aqua sweaters.
Shoes: Old Navy. I wore flip flops all day...except for this picture.

Day 185: You're so white and you're so cute
As my brother said, "Looks like you're loving the sun--and it's loving you!" I want to live that way forever and ever.
Blouse: Forever 21. If this wasn't so awkward, I'd wear this more often. It's just...Strange. The color is slightly off, the fit is loose in a way that isn't only unflattering--it doesn't make sense, and it's just not something that calls to me from my closet and dresser. In shorter terms: it's flat.
Sweater/skirt: H&M. I've found a lot of inspiration on what I'd like to do with my life. That would have an exclamation point if I didn't feel so much impatience. I know I should just enjoy highschool, and I do, I just can't wait to start 'doing' and stop thinking and talking. That felt appropriate for this post, I don't know why. I should be reading.
Belt: Ralph Lauren.

Day 184: Cool Schmool, Alexandre Dumas.
This is my reminder to keep reading. Even though this book is feeling longer than it is. I really shouldn't have boughten that issue of Bitch because now I want to read that and listen to Bratmobile but NAY.
Tshirt: Broadway Across America. I sometimes forget my roots when I listen to new types of music, this Avenue Q shirt is my reminder: Musicals are forever my Genesis.
Shirt underneath: Thrifted. I want to be all 90's grunge right now. But it's summer and that feels like misplaced energy.
Bracelet: Pearls. I am expecting to have some new jewelry soon.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. Trying to be scandalous.
Shoes: Target. For some reason, my toes are freezing. FREEZING. In summer. No amount of changes in my writing can express this feeling of outrage.

Day 183: You cannot be Carah or Saitrin because we're both, both.
What's in my hand? SUMMER READING! Yay honors english! I have to have it finished by Thursday because I don't want to have to read it on vacation. I'm doing my history reading there...For obvious reasons.
Skirt: H&M. New skirt! It makes me feel like a Gogo dancer AND a Barbie. I know which I'd rather be but I don't know which I am. So I wore fur.
Fur vest: Old Navy. I thought I was gonna be really hot in my fur, but I just had to wear it, you ever get that? Where you see an item in your closet and you just go to it immediately? That's how it was this morning.
Shirt/Purse: Thrifted. I plan on this being one of the three purses I take on vacation. Because then I'll be forced to wear it. And that needs to happen for this purse to get the creativity it requires.
Broaches: The flower-leaf thing was a gift from my voice teacher (who is amazing) and the other was given to my sister from my grandmother and has been *borrowed* by myself.
Book: Count of Monte Cristo. So far it's jolly good. If you didn't read it in 10th grade in honors english, I suggest you do that now...or skip it and read Cunt which was incredible.
