First day of vacation! I am currently in Catalina, California with my extended family. I spent around 7 hours traveling today and still had time to go to the BEACH. For the first time in...3 years!
Polo: Thrifted. Trying to be comfortable and attractive while on a plane isn't easy or fun or enjoyable. But I don't mind it because I'm in California with my cousins who I haven't seen in 5 years!
Sweater: H&M.
Headband: Scarlett's gift. I think I looked like a 9 year old when I got off the boat, which is a good thing, right?
Shoes: Target.

Day 188: If fortune is a consolation, I ought to be consoled: I'm rich
I leave tomorrow for California so I spent today packing and trying to figure out how many earrings to bring. I decided since I only have 2 ears, I'll bring 2 pairs. That's the sort of logic that I went to public school to achieve.
Dress/Lace button up: H&M. I've spent the summer trying to keep life interesting without my lovely layers. But I realize now that that whole mindset is off and I shouldn't be afraid to layer in the heat. That thought is what caused me to wear this slightly forgotten button up. I couldn't scorn it anymore for being dark. That's not my place.
Bracelets/earrings: Scarlett's gift to me. I spent all of last night (after her departure) untangling necklaces and sorting various items into piles. I now find myself with more jewelry than I've ever owned or known what to do with. And I love it.
Scarf: Homemade. I said I had to finish Count of Monte Cristo before Thursday this time last week. That has not happened. I have 100 pages left and one hour till Thursday. Though, I still have 5 hours till I "wake up" and go to the airport. I have faith in me!
Purse: Thrifted.
Shoes: Old Navy.

Day 187: Proud to know you.
My friend of the past 6 years, Scarlett, who takes me thrifting, gives me advice on surviving highschool, gives me fantastic music, and has the best style of anyone I know, is moving to San Francisco. Obvz I'm extremely excited for her and the beginning of her new and hopefully better life, but Ohio and myself as well as all of her friends will miss her dearly.
Blouse: Thrifted. I had to wear this for Scarlett because it was with her encouragement that I bought it. Of course I'm very thankful.
Skirt: Gap. Scarlett also gave me loads of new music and jewelry due to her cleaning from moving. There's always a silver lining. The other silver lining: I now have a (nother) reason to go to San Fran.
Belt: Thrifted.
Necklaces: Target and thrifted. I'll let you figure it out.
Shoes: Target.
I don't know what Scarlett is wearing, but she looks fantastic per youzhe. I love you, Scarlett. Thank you for everything! Onto bigger and better things!

Day 186: Reject all American
This post is reminiscent of everyday in school when we would do the pledge of allegiance and everyday I would refuse to partake by: covering my heart with my left hand, not saying the words, and putting quotation marks around "liberty and justice for all". I know, I'm too crazy for the public school system. My mini rebellions often caused my friends of second period to yell the pledge at me. Good times.
Skirt: Delia's. This is scandal-causingly short. Luckily I spent my 4th in a bathing suit on the beach of a lake in Indiana. This experience both increased my love of Indiana and my bond with Lesley Knope.
Shirt: American Apparel. Proper patriotism is shown with the store title instead of the item itself. I don't really own any red.
Sweater: H&M. You make think 87 degrees with humidity is too hot for a sweater, but nay! It's never too hot for a sweater. Though I did take this off when I was in the lake. I don't own any aqua sweaters.
Shoes: Old Navy. I wore flip flops all day...except for this picture.

Day 185: You're so white and you're so cute
As my brother said, "Looks like you're loving the sun--and it's loving you!" I want to live that way forever and ever.
Blouse: Forever 21. If this wasn't so awkward, I'd wear this more often. It's just...Strange. The color is slightly off, the fit is loose in a way that isn't only unflattering--it doesn't make sense, and it's just not something that calls to me from my closet and dresser. In shorter terms: it's flat.
Sweater/skirt: H&M. I've found a lot of inspiration on what I'd like to do with my life. That would have an exclamation point if I didn't feel so much impatience. I know I should just enjoy highschool, and I do, I just can't wait to start 'doing' and stop thinking and talking. That felt appropriate for this post, I don't know why. I should be reading.
Belt: Ralph Lauren.

Day 184: Cool Schmool, Alexandre Dumas.
This is my reminder to keep reading. Even though this book is feeling longer than it is. I really shouldn't have boughten that issue of Bitch because now I want to read that and listen to Bratmobile but NAY.
Tshirt: Broadway Across America. I sometimes forget my roots when I listen to new types of music, this Avenue Q shirt is my reminder: Musicals are forever my Genesis.
Shirt underneath: Thrifted. I want to be all 90's grunge right now. But it's summer and that feels like misplaced energy.
Bracelet: Pearls. I am expecting to have some new jewelry soon.
Skirt: Urban Outfitters. Trying to be scandalous.
Shoes: Target. For some reason, my toes are freezing. FREEZING. In summer. No amount of changes in my writing can express this feeling of outrage.

Day 183: You cannot be Carah or Saitrin because we're both, both.
What's in my hand? SUMMER READING! Yay honors english! I have to have it finished by Thursday because I don't want to have to read it on vacation. I'm doing my history reading there...For obvious reasons.
Skirt: H&M. New skirt! It makes me feel like a Gogo dancer AND a Barbie. I know which I'd rather be but I don't know which I am. So I wore fur.
Fur vest: Old Navy. I thought I was gonna be really hot in my fur, but I just had to wear it, you ever get that? Where you see an item in your closet and you just go to it immediately? That's how it was this morning.
Shirt/Purse: Thrifted. I plan on this being one of the three purses I take on vacation. Because then I'll be forced to wear it. And that needs to happen for this purse to get the creativity it requires.
Broaches: The flower-leaf thing was a gift from my voice teacher (who is amazing) and the other was given to my sister from my grandmother and has been *borrowed* by myself.
Book: Count of Monte Cristo. So far it's jolly good. If you didn't read it in 10th grade in honors english, I suggest you do that now...or skip it and read Cunt which was incredible.
